Abstract

Organic farming has become one of risky farming systems, because its yield could be lower than anorganic farming. Moreover, low yield can lead to a suffer in financial loss on organic farming. This might be caused by the changing in input usage when farmers changed their farming system from anorganic to organic farming. The research was aimed to determine : 1) income’s risk of organic farming by different cropping seasons. 2)income’s risk of organic farming based on its harvested area. The research was designed as descriptive and analytical research. The sampling farmers were selected by using proportioned stratified random sampling, Structural interview and documentational techniques were employed to gain informations about income’s risk in organic farming. Coefficient Variances was employed as primary analytical tool in this research. The result showed that : (1) risk in organic farming can be higher as long as it was applied by farmers. This result was concluded based on Coefficient Variance in farmer’s group both in Mandiri I which has 45,54% and Mandiri IB which has 41,34%. (2) according to Coeffient Variance Analysis, risk in organic farming can be lower if farmers have few harversted area. The Coeffient Variance for each categories in harvested area were : narrow harvested area (47,53%); medium harvested area (34,61%) and large harvested area (24,45%). Abstract

Small and Medium Enterprises play an important role for economic growth in Indonesia. As an agricultural country, development on agricultural sector should be done to meet the needs of industries. As agricultural commodities, cassava requires processing efforts to increase the product value. Anis Jaya has been processing tapioca flour since 1983 in the center of tapioca flour on Pogalan, Trenggalek Regency. Since 2015, Anis Jaya has decreased production number, due to the decline on market demand. This has an impact on the decline of cassava purchasing price by industry. Therefore, the objective of this research is to analyze the feasibility of Anis Jaya business and to analyze business competitiveness using Porter’s Diamond model approach for business development. The analysis shows that the Net Present Value is Rp. 88.690.571,74 (NPV > 1), Internal Rate of Return is 54,98% and Payback Period less than 1 year. Net B/C ratio of Anis Jaya is 2,82 which indicates that the industry is still worth continuing. The formulated development strategy is making efficiency by adding capital, improving product and service quality, optimizing labor performance, and managing raw material inventory and auxiliary materials.

Therefore, Agribusiness Region Development of cornand mango in Blora is very important to stimulate economy growth based on regional potencyinvolved by all actors of agribusiness such as government, farmer, and private sector in Blora. The objective of this research is to determine comparative advantage of corn and mango in Blora and to formulate how to develop those commodities. This study applied farming analysis and Policy Analysis Matrix (PAM). The result of the study show that agribusiness of corn and mangoare profitable and there are not any diseconomies resulted from those agribusiness activites. Therefore, agribusiness of those commodities can be developed further.

Abstract

Kasturi voor-oogst tobacco is one of the commodities most widely grown in Jember Regency, by which the productivity is relatively low. Cultivation of kasturi voor-oogst tobacco used the technology package of tobacco practices (GTP). The aim of the research was to know: the relationship between the group dynamics and adoption of GTP of Kasturi voor-oogst tobacco. The research used descriptive and correlational methode, with the proporsionate stratified random sampling. The data were collected by using interviews, observation and documents study. The result of the research showed that there was a real relationship between the group dynamics and adoption of GTP of kasturi voor-oogst tobacco. The group dynamic can make the proces adoption of GTP easier. The better the group dynamics the easier the proces of GTP adoption.

Abstract

This study was aimed to determine the farmer’s behaviour in face of risk as result of pepper’s price fluctuation in Gumukmas District, Jember Regency. There are three criterias in farmer’s behaviour : risk lover, risk neutral, and risk averter. Thirty-nine farmers was selected by using simple random sampling. The utility function was employed to determine farmer’s behaviour. In this research, utility function with Bernoulli and Neuman -Morgerstern technique was used. This specification was modified with neutral probability (50:50). Estimation on this function was done by using uncertainty equivalent (CE) through quadratic estimation. The result showed that arround 33 farmers (84.62%) are risk neutral. The risk averter are 5 farmers (11.52%) and one farmer (2.56%) is risk lover. This result also showed that farmers with own land ownership status were more daring than farmers who own land tenure status, profit sharing, or farmers who have two land ownership status. Other results indicated that the farmers who pursued local pepperwere more daring than the farmers who pursued hybrid pepper or farmers who persuedlocal and hybrid at once.

Abstract

Although the amount of Indonesian cocoa production is quite high, but the volume of cocoagrinding is still relatively low compared to the potential that should be obtained. Therefore, Indonesia should improve the cocoa processing industry sector. This research was intended to: analyze the implementation of each component of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) at Smallholder Cocoa Processing Center (PPKR) of Jembrana in accordance with Agriculture Minister’s Regulation No. 35/Permentan/OT.140/7/2008; analyze the efficiency level of the use of costs at PPKR Jembrana. The research results showed that the level of GMP implementation based on Agriculture Minister’s Regulation No.35/Permentan/OT.140/7/2008 at PPKR Jembrana was still partial (47%). In the one year production, the use of costs at PPKR Jembrana was efficient indicated by the value of R/C>1, but the value was resulted by subsidized cost structure (cost of raw materials/cocoa seeds, employee salaries, depreciation of equipment, machinery depreciation, building depreciation, property and building taxes, electricity cost, and water cost). If subsidies were removed, the value of efficiency would drop even become inefficient. By the whole implementation of GMP, the inefficient costs in form of process failure cost and product return cost can be reduced, so the efficiency of the costs use will increase.
